All our websites use industry-standard (online banking level) Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to provide
encryption of personal information such as your name, address and credit card details.
In this way, information passed between your computer and our website cannot
be read in the unlikely event of someone intercepting it.
Credit and debit card transactions are secure using 'HSBC Secure ePayments' - see below.
Online Purchases and Card Transactions
HSBC handle all our online secure card transactions, via their Secure ePayments transaction gateway and provide
a safe and effective shopping system with these core elements:-
- State-of-the-art security
- Acceptance of a wide range of cards
- Payments are handled by the HSBC Group
- MastrerCard® SecureCode™ and Verified By Visa
- We are never passed card numbers from HSBC - Safe & Secure
HSBC will under take the card transaction on our behalf. Your personal card details are securely held
by HSBC and at no stage will your card details ever be divulged to us.
Don't be put off that the style of the Website changes completely - this is deliberate, as the site that
you are accessing is run by HSBC bank, a principal member of the HSBC Group, one of the world's largest
banking and financial services organisations.
Other than when HSBC process your original payment or we process a refund for you, your credit card
details are displayed in a truncated form with only the first 4 digits and the last 4 digits
visible. For example your receipt and or invoice will print a partial credit card number in this way.
This means that you will be able to check which card you used against the numbers, but in
the unlikely event of your receipt and or invoice and on other media being stolen, your full
credit card number would not be revealed.
When you speak to us about your order, you will never be asked to quote your full credit card number
by our customer care staff unless it is to cancel and or refund an order or when you are not buying online
i.e. mail order, telephone and or face to face orders.
Your Personal Information (non payment card)
We will only accept orders using Secure Socket Layer (SSL)
technology - this means you cannot inadvertently reveal
personal information by using an un-secure connection.
The latest versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer
(3.0 and up) and Netscape Navigator (3.02 and up)
both support this secure connection.
If this option has been disabled on your
browser, you will not be able to purchase or
login the website until you reset these options, some help as follows:-
For Netscape go to Communicator, Tools, Security Info,
Navigator and tick 'Enable SSLv2' and 'Enable SSLv3' boxes
For Internet Explorer go to Tools, Internet Options, Advanced and.
tick the 'Use SSL 2.0' and 'Use SSL 3.0' boxes under 'Security'
Are You Secure Online
You can check that you are shopping in a secure environment by looking for an image of a key (Netscape) in
the grey bar at the bottom of your screen or either a locked padlock icon (Internet Explorer).
This will appear on any of the Vikatec web pages where you are entering personal
information (such as your address details) - non of our other web pages will transmit information about you.
Current Secure Version
As Some of the earlier versions of Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator do not offer the same levels of security,
it is commonly accepted that you should download a free upgrade by following the below links-:
